Giorgio W, previously called Giorgio Viva is back again and this time with something both techy and deep. Yet it’s sprinkled with that pinch of funk we have come to know as his trade mark both as a DJ and producer.

 "Cigarros" is a hypnotic techhouse workout with a whole range of perfectly placed vocal samples and bouncing chops and stabs that bites its way deep into your system. Next track "Deep Dawn" is, as the title suggest deeper and a bit darker but with uplifting bouncy bass line melodies that bubble around in an improvised way creating a perfect match fore the driving sub bass.  To top the release off we are served the driving, melancholic but yet so positive "Stella". This is a track that fits just as well in a set of strong techhouse as in one towards the deeper edge. All in all this is a real gem of a release from this now Brussels bound Italian multi artist.

Gravity Is Pulling At My Sleeve is the name of the runner up and now were talking house in its pure form. Percussion mixed with a classic synth line of the really delay-ridden sort. Around half way in we get a very cool poem about gravity and what could be more suited for a packed dance floor? This is really funky stuff that shows that mr. Hawks truly has a capacity way beyond the harder tech-house.

The title track "Touch" consists of spooky bouncing sounds mixed with a wonderfully hidden but yet close vocal. There is some sort of happiness woven into the sad melancholy of the melody which is the genius of the way it builds in your mind and sticks with you.

The flip side “Incidents” is more of a bass line driven track. Very well balanced with heavy echoing synth stabs as a lead. This can be a real killer on the dance floor just as well as it seems perfect for cool laid back listening, or why not fast driving along the coastline on a summer afternoon. If this is how Swain is setting the pace there are probably lots of exiting things in the pipeline.

Here is a real treat of a music concept pack for you techno lovers to sink your teeth into. LAW Recordings ones again lean over to the techno side of things and proudly presents the second release of the very talented Paris producer Stiff.

This is a bit of a new concept that will be released as an album (3 tracks). We invite you to a three course dinner straight from the culinary capital of the world and the chef for the evening is of course none other then the Paris techno master Stiff himself. The “Menu” is laid out as follows:

Entree: Some really deep and soft yet pulsating grooves perfect for use as an intro for almost any style set. Mysterious voices woven together with fine pads and that powerful pulse rising and fading.

Plat: This takes us into the meatier section of our dinner. Here we are talking full on rhythm section with a very warm and almost tribal style of techno yet with a lot of parallels to the later Detroit scene.

Dessert: What’s a hearty dinner like this without some real sweetness at the end? For “Dessert” we have a beautiful thick slice of techno that just melts in your mouth while it gives you that little nice boost of energy to continue well into the darker hours of the night.

Italy has a rich and illustrious history when it comes to dance music and not a day too soon we are proud to present our own favourite Italian in his first original release on LAW Recordings. Giorgio Viva is a long time friend of the LAW team and a constant source of inspiration not just to us but to everyone in his surroundings weather it be as a dj, producer, painter or friend.

This smashing release consists in two tracks of which the title track Keep Moving is an uplifting and hypnotically building floor filler type of cut. From the very first beat you get an idea of what might be lurking in the shadows of the peak and the vocal sample drives it along and gives it that “moving” feel preparing for a floor explosion.

Robottrackk (SOGT mix) is more towards the experimental tech-house side of things. Great robotic voices merging with classic arcade game sounds to a punchy bass driven background. There is this warm pounding feel to the rhythm that brings back memories of dark sweaty nights at Twilo. This is the genius of Giorgio Viva and his ability to explore the subtle shades of electronic dance music.

Headphonism, aka Tim Bernhardt, Germany has been making quality house and deep house since 1997 releasing on labels such as Draft Recordings, Warm, Metromusic, Polyfon and Robsoul. This week we are proud to present some really fresh sounds from this veteran producer in his debut on LAW Recordings.
 
Title track Rubycon is a beautifully melancholic, hypnotic and building track. It’s one of those tracks that just keeps growing on you without using any subtle or obvious effects. Just that growing slightly off beat deep cord climbing and climbing…
 
Second track Minor Funk is a peice of truly funked out deep house with a great bouncy bass and a catchy vocal sample riding it all along. The flowing soothing embeded synth pads create that unmistaken Headphonism deep sound. This is a really happy springy, almost summery deep house track perfect for this time of year!
 
Third track on this new release is something different but a definite killer to unexpectedly bring into a house set or to use for a more beats oriented chill out session. The track goes under the name Tribute and draws some clear parallels to the production style of the ever so missed electronic music outfit known as Orbital.

LAW Recordings are very exited to present a brand new remix project of the Bowyer Hawks track “Survivors Of a World”. We gave the track to 3 different carefully selected producers in 3 different parts of Europe to see what they would come up with.

Jeff Bennett . Malmö, Sweden. As many of you know this is a highly productive veteran of dubby tech-house with over 100 releases behind him on labels such as Poker Flat, Plastic City, Episode, Treibstoff and long time runner of his own imprint Kung Fu dub. The version he has come up with is a dark techy thing with incredible layers of carefully placed tweeks and effects. A dark repetitive melody runs all along the track and the unmistakable funkiness combined with that dark dubby feeling of Jeff Bennett deeply flavours the whole production.

Giorgio Viva, Lecce, Italy. His take on the track is also quite moody and dark with some wonderfully retro style shouts and a great “chop-up”-lecture of the original voice sample and bass line. And the “retroness” doesn’t end there since the whole thing ends in a beautiful acid frenzy with great licking melodies jumping all around. This is a real builder bound to get everyone on their feet.

LaNoiraude, Paris, France. This is another remix and production veteran with several great house releases behind him dating back since 1999, most recently the somewhat experimental album Safari Through Unusual Layers. This remix is a bouncy dirty disco style track pointing in a more housey direction. Flowing pads meets a funked up bass line to create a “good times” groovy sort of vibe, a perfect soundtrack to the spring of 2009.

It’s time for yet another smokin’ hot release from LAW Recordings. This time we have the great honour to present the very talented Navy B from Mielec, Poland. The title track of the release, Porozumienie is a techy but smooth affair with a sweet kind of hidden but nagging hook that slowly ploughs into your head. Further into this 4 track release we find two more straight up driving techno tracks in “Higienicznie” and “WP”. Even though this feels harder his seemingly sensible smoothness clearly comes across and is what differs this from the average. To top of this treat we get a serious piece of deep tech called Zazdroscicielki. This is really detailed techno at its finest. With a moderate pace and its funky feel it sucks you into the audio image. Law recordings are very proud to represent this talented producer who has been very busy producing and DJing in Poland all the way back since 1997. Now finally his vibe will reach out to a wider audience.

Les Nuits came to be when Bowyer Hawks teamed up with fresh Paris producer Oda Swain for some experimental track making and colaboration under the rooftops of the French capital. The two track release consits in a dark and bright side literally speaking.  Nuit Blanche is a pretty happy house track with some retro sounds going on, taking you back to early Kraftwerk years. Nuit Noir on the other hand is just as dark as the title says it. Some really experimental stuff going on here with lots of tweaks, unexpected sound effects and loops all sprinkeled on top of a deep dark sub bass.

Paris producer and techno DJ, –Siff- is the latest addition the the LAW family. With his release Carcajou he once and for all takes LAW recordings into the slamming techno domains of electronic dance music. Title track Carcajou and Lubzion Fallet are both killer techno tracks in the traditional sense of the word. Hard kicks meat classic industrial space sounds creating that unmistakeable funky futuristic sound that makes your mind drift off to the “motor city”. Yet this has an air of something new, crisp, clear and sharp like a spring night of 2009.

Get in the ring is a deeper and darker affair with a heavy powerful rhythm and a beautifully stumbling kick blow at each 16th beat. Tastefully sprinkled along the track we get the message from Carl Weathers as Apollo Creed; - “And the way to get it back, is to go back to the beginning”. Is there a better way to put it? True techno will never die!

Bowyer Hawks is back with a brand new double original release on LAW. Survivors of a World starts off with a tribal African feel, and whit the bass kicking in, changes to a hypnotic low-slung dubby track with an unforgettable bouncing bass line. The long almost psychedelic break at the end, that actually really never breaks, turns it into something out of the normal. Swinging and flying atmospheric sounds and with the rhythm in a steady grip all along.

So Alien is somewhat of a prog driver compared to pretty much anything Hawks ever released before. A cool stripped down pulsating rhythm that bit by bit is broken up by little off beat tones, blips and slams. The whole thing is topped off well with a really catchy voice sample that sticks in your head for at least a week after. Dark powerful and actually pretty hard for being Hawks, they’re just so Alien….the Aliens!

Muzeek is back at LAW and this time with something harder, darker but yet very uplifting as far as the message is concerned.

“Resolution” is a 3 piece release consisting in two versions of the same track and a very useful acapella. The Vox mix is a deep and slightly slamming affair with some beautifully executed voice sampling and a deep bass line that draws a clear parallel to the warm techno sounds of Saunderson and Mills. The Conspiracy mix is a more straight instrumental yet razor sharp version on the same theme and the acapaella is just a beauty to use on top of nearly anything your imagination may allow. All is right, the world goes round!

Sublet is LAW Recordings first step over the atlantic. This Dallas producer shows great promise with his personal deep tech, beautifully hypnotizing sounds. Soul Fry and second track on the release, Plateus, are just the kind of wonderfully funky tracks that eats their way into your head and stays. When you are safely swinging in the groove that little vocal in Soul fry or synth stab in the case of Plateus breaks it up and sweeps you into the rythm again Perfect tracks for those building style tech-house sets.
Third track Surfaces is a darker affair with a very warm layed back house beat to it. A solid building bass line takes you up to some acid spookyness towards the end.

 Nu.b, one half of the Paris duo Bandidos is entering the field of Deep techno with his new release Purple on LAW recordings. Purple is a real hybrid of deep house and warm techno. The track has that hard tech-kick but with floating atmospheric syth pads and a bouncy bass going straight for the gut. This is all topped off with great dark vocal samples in some totally unidentifiable language. Hard, warm and dreamy all wrapped into one.

Second track of the release, Troit3, with its classic Detroit-sounding kick drum is more a driver of a track. Still deep and and with a futuristically padded yet very dynamic production. Along the whole build of the track lies a beautifully experimental percussion line giving it that extra boost.

The Outer Path is a nice housey and melancholic tech-house track for that perfect mid-party floor. The second track of the release, Electronic, is more of a dark but yet funky hard driving tech-house track with a rolling bass line and razor sharp rythm. This is the latest release of Swedish producer Bowyer Hawks.

Platinum Hotel is a beautiful deep affair with that crisp clear sound and layed back broken voice sample. Deep sensibility is more to driving a smooth deep-tech edge. Once again French producer Muzeek showing us his finest.

Party Like Them is a groovy funky uplifting house track with some different and interesting drum programation. The second track of the release Almost The Truth is a deeper melancholic vibe with the distinct Bowyersih back bone of a bass line. The Agitator is a more hard driving Detroit inspired techno track with a cool retro punk-provocative vocal message from one of the greatest agitators of the 80s.

The Reaper is a completley catchy locomotive like house track from new German producer Somerflek. A fresh and different sound that can be fitted in to many different syle sets. Alotta shakin and State Of Me are really elegant deep house tracks of the true sophisticated type. Deep sensible and beatiful!
